Ragtag Rescue was founded in 2014 on the principal that many animals in east Texas shelters & rescues simply lack exposure to the adopting public. We intend to change that. By transporting animals regularly to public venues, shopping centers, and festivals, we showcase these homeless animals in climate-controlled comfort and create positive encounters with a larger pool of potential adopters.
Ragtag offers service & support to animal shelters and foster based rescue groups, our “Rescue Partners”. At this time, we are concentrating in Henderson, Van Zandt, Smith and surrounding counties.
East Texas shelters have no choice but to euthanize 75~80%. We seek to reduce that.
Ragtag Rescue’s Mission
… is to reduce the population of homeless companion animals in East Texas.
Ragtag Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer organization focusing on animal welfare, adoption and humane education. We do this:
- By facilitating and maximizing off-site adoption opportunities for area animal shelters, foster networks, and rescue groups in a pleasant atmosphere at little or no-cost to our Rescue Partners.
- Through education, outreach, and support to raise puppy-mill awareness, and promote adoption and responsible pet ownership, including the importance of sterilization.
In the future, we intend to leverage our transportation capability in order to facilitate low-cost/no-cost pet sterilization.
